Comment Plug Hack

So, you'd like to have your commenter's links plugged on your blog? Well, just follow this tutorial and you'll have those plugs working in no time!

1. Go to your cutenews open the inc folder. Open functions.inc.php and paste the following code at the end of the document. Make sure, though, that it is before the ?>.

2. Now open shows.inc.php and find the code below. (You can find it easily by pressing Ctrl + F.)

$output = str_replace("{title}", $news_arr[2], $template_full);

Under that code, paste the one below:

if(CountComments($news_arr[0], $archive) > 0){ $output = str_replace('[commenters-header]', '', $output); $output = str_replace('[/commenters-header]', '', $output); $output = preg_replace("#\{commenters:(.*):(.*)\}#ie", "list_commenters('".$news_arr[0]."', '\\1', '\\2')", $output); } else $output = preg_replace("#\[commenters-header\](.*?)\[/commenters-header\]#i", "", $output);

3. Now, in the same file, find the code below:

$output = $template_active;

Paste this code below it:

4. Now, log into your cutenews admin and go to Options >> Edit Templates.

5. First, in your Active News template, add the code below where you want the plugs to show up in your post:

[commenters-header]{commenters:5: - }[/commenters-header]

Where the number 5 is, you can change that to the number of plugs you want there to be!

6. Now add the same code above to your Full Story template.

Please Note
If an error occurs that says your comments.txt file can't be found, there is an easy way to fix that.

In the first code I gave you in this tutorial, change the code here:

$alle_comments = file("./data/comments.txt");

Change it to your directory for cutenews. For example:

$alle_comments = file("cutenews/data/comments.txt");

And that should do it!
